Wharton Season Product Design & Development

Date April 2021 My Role Planning, prototyping, and development Skills/Tech React/Next.js, HTML5, CSS3, UI, UX, Framermotion

The season announcement is the biggest event of the year for Wharton Center, and they needed a seasonal website to match.

Cohesive design

There are over 40 shows in a season announcement. The application needed to have a cohesive design and represent all the shows equally.

User experience

The flow through the application needed to be interesting but not invasive. A simple and creative experience with small details.

Solutions

I mocked up 3 simple prototypes that would showcase the content. We landed on a simple black and white theme, with highlights of Wharton Center's brand colors. This allowed us to showcase artwork and video.

Then, deciding on several simple animations, I focused on making the site feel more interactive without burdening the user. I created a simple scroll animation that did not interrupt scrolling, a simple hover animation that put emphasis on images, and implemented video backgrounds.

Final Product

Wharton Season launched early April 2021.
